Hear me out-color blocking is not dead. I am loving this dress from Shop Golden Closet because I think it proves that point. To be honest, I think and hope that the whole color blocking thing will be grandfathered into the classics category of fashion. The same goes for polka dot pumps, especially black and white ones. If done right, they can go with so many things. I am really digging this dress for obvious reasons-the colors, the cut, the design. They all come together to create a piece that is just so easy on the eyes and flattering on the body. I would call this a shift dress for sure, and I find that some shift dresses can appear quite boxy. But this does not do that for me, and I highly doubt it would for you either. I am going away soon to North Carolina and I will be bringing this along. I plan on wearing it with a cute pair of black sandals and the same sunglasses I have here. I hope you’re all having a good week so far. I hate to say it, but I am so ready for fall. I am totally not a summer person. (I know some people are probably like ‘what?!’) I have started some fall shopping already, have you? The sleeveless trench vest I am wearing today is something great to pick up now because it will easily transition to fall. I love the green color because to me it is an extension of a neutral. You can rock it with black, white, tan, etc. I got mine from Necessary Clothing. It is very light and flow….moves really well! I went with shorts because I like playing with lengths to create a more interesting aesthetic, and I personally think it makes your legs look more flattering. You will probably be seeing me do this a lot on this blog-if you haven’t, check out this post.
So I could not resist this romper. There are a lot of things that attracted me to it – the red color, the V neck, the scalloped hemline (which is very flattering to the legs), the large floral print. I picked mine up from Love Culture, but I don’t think it’s still available, so I linked to a few really cute alternatives. I am also on Reward Style now (also same as liketoknow.it) so be sure to find me at liketoknow.it/basicallyblonde1.
Today I am showcasing a fantastic piece of versatile jewelry from Carolee, a great jewelry brand found in Macy’s and Nordstrom. I have been on the hunt for awhile for the perfect Peter Pan collar dress with little success. Then I saw their ‘Catch the Bouquet’ collar necklace on the Carolee site and realized I can customize my own look with this necklace! It easily hooks on and off in the front via a small clasp, so you can interchange the collar with any top. I went with the classic all black look, using my basic Forever 21 sweater and my favorite Blank NYC vegan leather skirt to make the necklace center of attention. I think the overall look is a winner – classic and feminine. The necklace it very intricately woven with fine pearlized beads. I know I included a close up but it is even more elegant in person, I promise. To browse more items from Carolee Jewelry visit their site here:
