If you are reading this I just want to say thank you for stopping by and welcome to my blog! This is one of my favorite outfit posts to date. This was shot on the island of Burano, Italy. Burano is a small but colorful island off the coast of Venice. We were staying in Venice during our honeymoon and I was thrilled to find out that Burano was only a 45 minute boat ride from Venice. I had seen pictures of Burano before and I thought, “It would be a dream come true to actually see this place in person.” Well, my dream came true and here I am!
If you ever get the chance, go here! It is a very small island but Burano is on the map and known for its colorful houses. I read that the residents once painted their houses to mark where their property ended and their neighbors began, and somehow the tradition stuck. The end result is an endless line of houses in shades of pink, blue, and green.
As if the color wasn’t enough to be an Instagram post waiting to happen, the residents also hang their laundry out from their windows, making it even more picturesque and like something out of a movie. Eric (my husband) and I got lost for a few hours admiring the beautifully unique aesthetic as well as the culture. Every now and again a resident would peek outside their door or window and observe the tourists, then go about their business. I always saw residents speaking to one another but never saw residents speaking to tourists. It definitely gave me a kind of “members only vibe”.
We arrived to the island around 11 am and left at approximately 4 pm. It was enough time to walk around and get decent pictures and to snag a bite to eat at one of their tiny restaurants. My biggest tip would be to get there early, as the crowds start to pour in closer to noon and it gets harder to get a picture without someone standing in your way.
I have some other candid shots I snagged of residents that I will be including in a separate post with other unique shots from our honeymoon in Italy.
This was the outfit I wore for the day. I know I have had these ASOS buckle booties on repeat and I’m sorry, but they are comfortable enough to wear on a day trip that includes nonstop walking. They are a great option if you don’t want to wear sneakers. Highly recommend!
Thank you again for stopping by. I hope you have a blessed holiday filled with lots of quality time with friends and family.
See you in the next post…
