Today on the blog I am introducing you to Stefanie. She is the girl behind the blog accordingtoblaire.com. I have gotten to know her personally and I am so happy to share my style focused interview with her! Not only is Stefanie a style blogger, but she is also a dedicated mother and a wife. Below is a portion of some of the awesome content you can find on her blog. You can find her Instagram at @accordingtoblaire, or click HERE.
If you could pass on one piece of fashion advice to readers, what would it be?
I would definitely encourage readers to not be afraid to express
themselves and try something new. Fashion is what is current, trendy,
what everyone else is wearing, but style is personal. Style is what
sets you apart and what makes you you! Also, don’t feel like you have
to have one style. You can always change it up!
How and why did you get started blogging?
To make a super long story short, I’ve always wanted to stay at home
and raise my daughter. My husband got a great job opportunity out of
state and it allowed me to be able to stay home. So, we made the move
from Indianapolis, Indiana where we’ve lived our entire lives, and
moved to Richmond, Virginia! I actually graduated from Indiana
University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Merchandising, and an
Associate’s Degree in Fashion Design. I got to spend two years
designing my own clothing and making my pieces come to life. I really
feel that that particular experience drew me to start blogging about
fashion and beauty because I feel like I have such a deep connection
to clothing and textiles.
How long have you been blogging?
I have only been blogging for a little while, less than a year. I came
across so many amazing fashion accounts on Instagram and it really
inspired me to start @accordingtoblaire (named after my two year old
daughter, Blaire). From there I got interest about what I was wearing
and felt a blog would really allow me to express myself and share my
style with the world.
What is your favorite/least favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing is the freedom you have! I can write about anything
I want and share pictures of my style and my life. I also really enjoy
collaborations and product reviews. I never have the feeling like I’m
working when I’m blogging.
I wouldn’t say I have a least favorite thing about blogging, but the
hardest thing for me about blogging is trying to stay consistent with
my posts and have a sort of theme for my audience. I recently started
an “OOTD” section so it keeps me on track as far as making sure I post
something at least once a day! I also feel that blogging has a
negative connotation and that its just a hobby. A lot of people don’t
realize that bloggers out there are making thousands of dollars for a
simple instagram post! I’m definitely not there yet but I’m enjoying
the journey so far.
Your top 3 staple wardrobe pieces?
My overall style is pretty casual, so my top 3 staple wardrobe pieces
may be different than most. First of all you will never see me without
an extremely large tote bag full of STUFF. Right now i have the
Totally MM Louis Vuitton tote that is stuffed with everything from
makeup, to diapers and wipes, to fruit snacks. Another staple piece
for me are a really good pair of leggings. I know that’s probably a
weird staple piece, but for my casual look they are a must. I don’t
wear them as much in the summer because it is so hot in Virginia, but
I have a black pair of Zella Live-In Leggings that have changed my
world. They are slightly shiny so I can dress them up, I wear them to
workout, and I even wore them when I was pregnant with my daughter.
They are great quality, and they are easy to wear anywhere. Finally,
my third staple piece would have to be a good pair of skinny jeans. I
have colored skinnies for the spring and summer, and leather and blue
denim for the fall and winter. I know I picked two bottoms, but I
really invest in my bottoms because I feel like you need good quality
bottoms that you can wear all the time. I typically don’t splurge on
tops because its such an easy way to change up your wardrobe and
trends come and go so quickly that I hate to waste my money on
expensive tops! (Also- if I had a fourth I would definitely pick an
Which social media platform are you most active on?
I have always been an instagram-addict. I started with my personal
account, @PrincessofYorki (yeah I have two yorkies that I’m a little
obsessed with) and I really wanted to start an instagram to feature my
OOTD. I love my daughter’s name, and she’s so opinionated that I
thought it would be funny to call my fashion instagram
@AccordingtoBlaire. I love how simple instagram is and the power that it
has to reach people. I love that it’s picture based, with little
wording, but still enough to get your point across. Hands-down my
Top 3 stores you usually shop? Love this question! Nordstrom is definitely number 1 for me. I
secretly still shop in their B.P. section because it’s cheap and
trendy, but do love their TBD and active departments too. They also
have great sales, great return policy, and great customer service
without being annoying. Secondly, I love Gap. Gap has so many great
basics, and I love the way their tops are cut. For some reason Gap
shirts always feel flattering to me. Finally, I’ve recently been
shopping at H&M. To me it’s more of an adult version of Forever 21.
Their items are so affordable, and I stock up on tops and cotton
dresses when I go there! They always have cute, trendy bags for
amazing prices too. I will say though that I change it up all the time
and my wardrobe pieces are from all over the place!
One piece of advice you could pass on to a new blogger or someone
thinking of starting a blog?
Just do it! It’s really fun, it’s addicting, and I’ve actually “met”
so many great people through blogging. There are girls I have met that
I do Instagram giveaways with, girls that I text on the reg, and so
many of them I would actually hang out with if we lived anywhere near
each other. It’s an amazing community and you get so much other
support from other bloggers.
One random fact about you?
This question is funny because I feel like I’m such a boring person! I
guess a random fact about me is that I absolutely love the beach. It’s
an obvious fact to anyone that knows me, but I love the peacefulness,
the breeze, the sunshine, the smell of the air and just that feeling
you get from being so close to the ocean. I’m lucky enough now to live
an hour from the beach but growing up in Indiana it was so special to
go with my family every single year to spend a week at the beach. I
love that every beach is so different, but all brings the same great
